Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app, on your own, without writing to anybody. Here's exactly where it is and exactly what goes.

Where it is

  1. Open Vurna and tap the profile icon at the top right of Today.
  2. Privacy.
  3. At the bottom, under Ending: Delete your account.
  4. It shows you what goes and what stays, then asks you to type your Kitchen № back before Delete my account ends it. There's no cooling-off period and no hold on the account.

What gets deleted

Everything. Every recipe and every photograph you added, the ones Vurna drew, your household and their allergies, your weeks, your list, your pantry, your conversations with her, and the account itself. Your photographs are removed from storage first, before anything else — that's the one step which can't be retried safely if it fails halfway.

Your Kitchen № goes with it, for good

A Kitchen № is an address other people wrote down. When your account goes, the number is retired and never given to anybody else — otherwise a stranger could inherit it and start receiving recipes meant for you.

We do not hold it for you, and there is no way to get it back. If you sign up again later you are a new person with a new number, even with the same email address. There is no reservation, no waiting period and nothing derived from your address that survives the deletion — keeping a way back would mean keeping something about you, and we keep nothing.

What your friends see

Friendships aren't deleted from their side — that would silently rewrite somebody else's kitchen. Instead you appear to them as Deleted account, and any recipes you'd shared stay in the book of whoever you shared them with. They were given away; they aren't yours to take back.

Take a copy first, if you want one

Privacy → Download your data writes a copy onto the phone you are holding: every recipe as a readable file, every photograph at full size, and the complete record beside them. Nothing is emailed. There is no link to wait for and nothing that expires — the copy is simply yours, on the device. Do that before you delete; afterwards there is nothing left to export from.

If you're paying for Premium

Deleting the account does not cancel the subscription, and the store will keep charging. Apple and Google own the subscription — we cannot cancel it for you and we are never told that you have gone. Cancel there first (Profile → Manage subscription opens the right page), then delete.
